About TLC and Parish Councils
Who 'owns' our website?
TLC owns the software that provides the website template for parishes. Hosting is provided by a third party which is paid for by TLC.
Can we control the advertising that appears on our website?
Generally speaking; no. However, if an advertisement appears that causes offence or is deemed to be libellous TLC can be approached with a view to having the advertisement removed or amended.
TLC advertising is governed by the same regulations laid down by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for all businesses engaged in non-broadcast promotional activities. TLC is obliged to comply with the British Codes of Advertising and Sales Promotion.
The website address for the ASA is http://www.asa.org.uk/ .
When will we receive payments from the 'Cashback' scheme?
TLC's cashback scheme was introduced in 2002/3 and payments are due in .....
What happens if TLC goes out of business?
There is currently no fallback position for parish councils.
Who is our main point of contact?
As members of the TLC Usergroup, you have direct and immediate access to all other member parishes. Your first point of contact however if you have a request of TLC, if you want to report a fault or if you have a complaint is with TLC itself.
Failing that, and if you wish to share your opinions or seek other opinions or guidance, the TLC Usergroup is your main point of contact.
How can we find out what other parish councils are doing with their websites?
Parishes that would like to have their TLC website seen by a wider audience can do so by contacting the TLC Usergroup simply requesting that a link to their website be placed on the 'Showcase Parishes' page of this website.
The National Members pages of this website also list all parishes that have adopted the TLC website template. As time permits, we shall add links to these lists so that other members can easily visit other TLC website parish users and see how individual sites have been tailored.
How can we influence how the TLC portal evolves?
Your best way is to sign up to the Usergroup Forum and post your ideas and issues. That gives you a public profile and if other people like your idea then they will post in support of it.
Alternatively, you can send your thoughts via the Feedback form which will be logged by the Usergroup and used in its discussions with TLC regarding future developments.
